Hole In One Insurance Shootouts

Shootouts, pioneered by the NHIOA, are an excellent alternative to the traditional fundraising golf tournament. The shootout creates its own special blend of excitement. It can be a significant fundraising event and can provide sponsors with extremely valuable media coverage. Shootouts are most commonly held at driving ranges.

How does it work?

Establish a relationship with owners of a driving range or park and arrange to use the facility for a weekend. Designate a target green on the range. Sell sponsorships to various merchants and media who will help with the promotion. Bring in the NHIOA to provide the hole in one insurance.

Competitors purchase a bucket of balls and qualify for the finals by scoring a hole-in-one or shooting for the green in a nearest the pin competition. In the final, the qualifiers compete to secure the major prize – $50,000, $100,000 or $1,000,000! Remember the bigger the prize the greater the chance of creating significant exposure for your event!

Running the event over a concentrated period (eg. 4 days) provides a period long enough to produce significant revenue but short enough to open with a bang, gain momentum and close with a bigger bang in the final. Excitement and media interest is heightened.

Involve a charity. A charity creates an empathy with the event and people are generally more willing to become involved.

Offer a $1,000,000 prize – this turns heads. Costs can be offset by sponsorship.
